Blogger still seems a nightmare of antiquated controls. But with no place else to post and the paper filled up, here a few recent scribblings:

Dixie Downs

Upon the Downs of Utah's Dixie

Horses ran the quarter mile

A few remain, most out of town

But hoof-prints are still around

Horsefly came by but yesterday

Swatted hard it went away

Horses make a better bite

I rode a horse full gallop once

His choice not mine

Lucky to have stayed on at all

And rode him back to his corral

Names and memories remain

To remind us of what was and is

Mud

Red mud today along the Wash

A slippery slope there was

Care was needed and was taken

Hips replace but not the hours lost

And what a day it is

The storm last night

Was bright with lightning

Roared with thunder and with rain

All that water now comes streaming

Down the creek at Halfway Wash

The waterfall a small Niagara

A lovely day and this I'll miss

St George I now am leaving

New Snow

On Signal Peak

In the mountains

Of Pine Valley

New snow has fallen

Winter lingers there

Though here it gets

Much warmer

Another day

I stay here

But time it is

To leave here

And remember

What I've

Seen here

The Bear Paw Cafe

But now I'm thinking

My back its aching

From the cleaning

Of the house that

I'd been renting

I'll stay another day or so

In the City of St George

This morning I found my way

To the counter of Bear Paw's Cafe

Advised by Bill a year ago

That its food was of the best

And now before me sits

Big Blueberry Pancakes

Bacon and Butter and

Enough syrup for to cover it

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
