26may19 11am In Eugene, Oregon @ Starbucks, need their wi-fi. Nothing to do till Tuesday when the California DMV opens up so I'm headed to the coast, about 60 miles. It's been a cold and rainy Memorial Day Weekend, this will be a short trip along the coast then back to the 5...I think. - I had heard it was the best scenic coast hwy so worth the trip even in the rain, even if I don't travel the length. Fan belt made more noise than usual yesterday - first place I saw was Jiffy Lube $170 but couldn't be done till Tuesday - things had to be taken apart to reach it.  Belt looks ok to me but a bit loose, I tugged on it and the squealing went away. Problem is I don't have internet except the phone and Starbucks (etc.) and weather is bad, hard to fix things. Ah life on the road! Will try for an RV full hook-up but its the start of summer holiday so being realistic. Got rid of a few more things. Learned a few more things. May try using the RV as a "Tiny H...

16may19 Juan de Fuca Were I to draw driftwood The log I sit on Would be the wood drawn On a day so far Without rain On a spit sticking into the Straits Eagles are flying overhead From the cliffs close by And but for their swooping Shorebirds would be dancing And afterwards mating Later on When the eagles departed One pair of shorebirds The species unknown But more on the way They both danced and mated A sight to have seen On a day so far Without rain

13may19 Toothache The upper right near to the back Drilled and killed in Shreveport A root canal that is and was Two months ago or so Uncrowned it was and is so still There was no time the need to travel The dentist there said nothing of it In San Diego it was suggested Non-stop its been since then Last night the pain again This time in Oregon in Bend Why me why now whom did I offend None it is just what it is To care for it my business

8may19 Cassettes They do not last those cassette tapes The player in the car in the car has died After the last one that it ate Last week and the last city in Utah Snowville I suppose As I left it gobbled And tape was gone Got it out all unraveled So far so long it had traveled Tried again no luck so sad The car itself now bad To be replaced The tape from forty years ago or so The Beatles and the Stones combined It cannot be replaced All I know has gotten old And I keep on when where I can I have a radio and still some tapes Will play them there till they die And will try for something new Before before I die too

8may19 In Bend in Oregon today Lost a poem along the way As I recall it went like this So there's nothing That you miss (2 days past) "Leaving Idaho Glad I came Nice place and time Now I go" The original Much better I'm sure But now more Later but before what follows Found now here's how it goes "The Roadway Inn In Boise Idaho Glad I came And now I go" (Yesterday) From Boise to Bend The I-84 West to Ontario US 20 next way to go River ranch farm and hills Country all the way Vale for pizza Burns bigger And drove through Gas halfway too Somewhere in the middle Then a Klondike Bar Where a tractor was discovered Ate lunch by the river I think the Malheur The foothills Six thousand feet Eighty-six hundred In meters Time past cars passed And then the Cascades Came over a hill 20 miles from Bend Suddenly there Near and high and Covered all with snow A sight it was to thrill
